About Citavi

First released in Switzerland in 2006, Citavi today has over a million users worldwide. In addition, more than 400 universities have site licenses for Citavi, allowing their students, faculty, and staff to use Citavi for Windows at no cost.

Citavi’s success lies in its ability to go beyond traditional reference management programs to support each step of the academic research process. Citavi helps with all research tasks, from searching for sources, to annotating PDF articles and excerpting quotations, to planning tasks and creating outlines, all the way to finalizing a formatted publication.

Although initially developed for academic users, Citavi is increasingly being adopted by companies, who want to make information they find available long term. In business settings, Citavi is often used to create a centralized repository for external research articles the company has collected.
